Sustrans works in schools to help hundreds of thousands of young people throughout the UK to travel actively and safely.
Our schools Bike It officers have an enormous impact within a year, through a planned programme of activities providing information, resources and encouragement - and then continue to support the school as it increasingly takes the lead.
This website celebrates and supports the work we do in schools in Peterborough.

How to run a safe bike shed during a covid school run.

One of the few positive things to happen during lockdown was a massive increase in the number of families getting out and about on their bikes. Covid 19 proved that it is important to be active and with the reduced capacity of public transport it is vital that we get as many people as possible travelling to school actively. We know that schools are having to make difficult decisions about keeping pupils and staff safe and a few have banned cycling over fears of crowding at the bike shed. There are ways around this and Sustrans have produced some guides to give advice on how to incorporate bikes with the "new normal" Click the button below

Changing our streets to make it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle safely during the lockdown and beyond.
Local authorities across the UK are making changes to our streets in response to COVID-19.
These changes are designed to make it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle safely whilst social distancing during the lockdown and beyond. And we want to hear what you think about them.
Tell us what you think
We’ve created a map which shows the latest street changes across the UK. These changes include temporary cycle lanes, wider footpaths, barriers to close streets to motor traffic, and reduced speed limits.
Search for your area, click on the icon, and fill in a short form to tell us how these changes are working for you.
We’ll collate the information and report back to local authorities where appropriate. And we may use your responses to inform future policy and planning.
